We have had the pleasure of taking care of a few special cats throughout our 25 years of being open.

Meet the cats who have touched our hearts.

Ashleigh Marie

Ashleigh Marie was adopted from the Harford County Humane Society when Cat Sense opened its doors in 1998 and served as our #1 hospital cat for all these years.

Chaucer

When this handsome cat was evaluated, it was found that he walked on his right front wrist and this had gone on for such a long time that a sore had developed. After tests were run to see if he could be a blood donor, Chaucer made his way to Cat Sense.

His right front wrist had no function, and the open wound was problematic. The solution was to amputate the leg, and this was performed by the staff at the Chesapeake Veterinary Referral Center. Chaucer was able to romp and play with his three remaining legs, although he did occasionally experience neuropathic pain from the original injury.

Chaucer enjoyed many years as one of the Cat Sense house cats

Bernadette

Bernadette was a cat who couldn’t bear any weight on her left hind leg. She was brought into Cat Sense for evaluation and was found to have a femur that was broken in four parts. It is unknown what caused her injury but she was able to get surgery done to fix her leg. Bernadette had a String of Pearls plate, a rod and cerlage wire placed to hold her femur in place.

Bernadette was such an independent kitty during her time as a clinic cat, but she quickly won the hearts of many of our clients and staff.

Shaky

Shaky came to Cat Sense Feline Hospital in 2009 from a bad situation. At the time, Cat Sense had two clinic cats, Ashleigh and Chaucer, so Dr. Sinclair decided Shaky could be our “upstairs” clinic cat and reside in our boarding area.

In boarding, Shaky had his own “man cave” for when he had to be confined from our boarding guests. Otherwise, Shaky had freedom to occupy common areas of boarding, such as the sofa area and kitchen, when boarders had returned to their condominiums.

Shaky was loved by many of our clients as well as the employees of Cat Sense.
